Think Terry Nappies are Tricky?!
February 2, 2009Nappies Nappies Nappies
February 2, 2009I think I might have started to go totally nappy mad. Stuffable, 2 part shaped, prefold, birth to potty… so many types that all have excellent qualities
You dont really realise how much until you stop using them – When I went back to work after maternity leave it all went a bit weard – takes a while at getting back into the swing of things. My husband took over full time daddy duties and I went back to work. As I was really the main advocate of real nappies in the household – I’m sure ste wont mind me saying that… we slipped into the eco disposible route. They are easy, sure but cute – certainly not and fun, well no… I think its fair to say now we have all settled into our roles we have both now realised that we miss them – the lovely colours the cuddlyness of them – that knowledge that you are not putting your baby into contact with nasties, that you are not filling up the wheely bin by the end of week one and in the bigger picture reducing our footprint…
Cris from Skin Blossom pops in for a cuppa.
November 9, 2008
I spoke to Cris the creator of the delightful Skin Blossom products the other day just to find out a little bit about why she decided to make certified organic body care products.
What struck me is how similar we are really both busy mums trying to cram in too much into the day – with one exception Cris is expecting her 2nd child and due to give birth very very soon! Hope all goes well Cris.
The range Cris offers includes a hand cream, body lotion and body wash all of which I must say are delightful. I get really cracked hands from riding my Brompton to work and the other day I forgot my gloves and cracked my knuckles but I blobbed on a great load of the hand cream and after a few applications the cracks were much better! Good going I think…
One of Cris’s main drivers for making this range is to provide certified organic products which are affordable. I think Cris has done this really well as all the products come in at £6.00 or under. Cris has had lots of experience making her own blends for her family and it was this experience which lead her to create Organic Bloom. It was difficult to gain Certification from the Soil Association, Cris explained as there are many procedures which need to be adhered. Cris wanted to create credible and affordable products so Soil Association Certification was the only way to achieve this in her eyes.
Cris is already planning her next additions to the range – facial moisturiser and cleanser, which will be available in the new year. Even though Cris will have a new little baba she plans to keep up the pace and launch her marketing and pr plan to raise the profile of the brand so that more people get to hear about the great range.
Organic Discoveries
October 10, 2008I have found a fantastic soil association grower in Scarisbrick, Lancashire – ManicOrganic – I popped in to have a little look today. Julia has lots of lovely organic produce and local produce too… who needs supermarkets when you have such great growers on your door stop – minimal food miles and a whole lot tastier & fresher!! If you are ever passing I would strongly recomend sampling some of the fab veg…Go ManicOrganic!!!
How am I supposed to change my daughter?!
October 9, 2008Why oh why would a hospital not have baby changing facility’s – is it a requirement to have offspring that are older than 2?? Is it a baby free zone?? I certainly couldn’t see the sign that said this and my daughter should have charged out her services as entertainment as she cheered up the patients, some of who had been waiting for 2 hours!!!! The hospital is Wrightington – the site has managed to accommodate conferencing facilities but no baby changing area. Madness!!!
Feel free to join in with your baby changing gripes!!!
